Luxembourg Cluster Initiative

The Luxembourg Cluster Initiative, launched in 2002 by the Luxembourg Government, actively encourages networking between the private and the public sectors. The focus is placed on key technologies that have been identified as being important for the future sustainable development of the Luxembourg economy, such as:

  • Automobility
  • Creative Industries
  • Eco-Innovation Technologies
  • Healthcare and Biotechnologies
  • Information & Communication Technologies
  • Materials & Manufacturing Technologies
  • Space Technologies
  • Wood

Logistics and Maritime activities represent other innovation sectors in which Luxembourg is significantly improving its positioning.

The Luxembourg Cluster Initiative aims to jointly develop cutting-edge technologies whilst supporting Luxembourg’s current technological expertise and providing impetus for the further development of national centres of excellence.

The main objectives of the Luxembourg Cluster Initiative are to: 

  • Develop a shared vision for the future orientation of the clusters and innovation networks concerned
  • Foster communication and the exchange of knowledge and know-how between cluster and innovation network members
  • Stimulate the development and implementation of collaborative projects on a national, European and an international level
  • Enhance the visibility of the technological excellence and the innovation potential of cluster and innovation network members 
  • Encourage the uptake of new technologies and the identification of potential business opportunities
